PXE Diskless iSCSI Boot Windows 7/8/10 from SANDeploy Boot Server |
-
There are three methods to perform Windows 7/8/10 diskless boot from SANDeploy iSCSI Server:
1. Diskless Boot Windows 7/8/10 by Cloning (Clone Windows 7/8/10 to iSCSI SAN).
By this type, user can create an image file by using standard image disk file (.img), VMware vmdk or Microsoft vhd to hold Windows 7 OS data, user can also create iSCSI target by using physical disk and partitions. After create iSCSI disk then clone data from Windows system disk to iSCSI disk, so that client machine can boot from the iSCSI disk.
2. Diskless Boot Windows 7/8/10 by Ghost Cloning (Clone Windows 7/8/10 to iSCSI SAN).
3. Install Windows 7/8/10 directly on to SANDeploy iSCSI SAN.
By this type, the same as cloning method, user can use not only image disk, vmdk and vhd but also partition and physical disk to hold Windows 7 OS data, the difference is that user don't need to clone OS data to the iSCSI disk, user can use Windows 7 setup CD to install directly to the iSCSI target.
4. Boot from local hard disk.
By this type, after installed client machine, user can physically move the disk drive to server machine, and mount the physical disk to iSCSI target, these steps will be quite simple than above methods, but need user to physical transfer hardware. However, if server machine the same hardware configuration as client machines, iSCSI target can share with Server's system disk.
